The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) will be hosting an interactive experience for high school students (Grades 10 to 13) over the winter break, to work with our professors on fun group projects and develop skills to get a head start on their future career path.

Business & Commerce-Start your own business Conception to reality Time and date: Dec 12 – 15, 2022 9:30 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm NOTE: Camp participants are requested to please carry their laptops/tablets. This camp is primarily aimed to develop entrepreneurial and innovative mindsets and skill sets to successfully launch your own business. Learn skills relevant to the future of business including how to leverage technology for competitive advantage. Specific skill sets include:

Day 1:
Create innovative ideas/ products/ services
Choose the right idea (make green choices)
Day 2:
Promote the idea using digital tools (Search engine optimization, e-commerce, AI, augmented reality via metaverse and social media marketing)
Day 3:
Learn to set goals, build revenue models, set pricing and model growth channels.
Small Quantity Costing, Gross Margin Analysis, Break Even Analysis.
Contribution Margin, Economics of Scale & Revenue Analysis.

MEDIA AND DESIGN- Short Film Camp
Time and date: Dec 12 – 14, 2022 9:30 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 3:0 pm |
This 3 day camp will focus on creating a short film and will include all aspects of the film making process and pre and post production.
Participants will gain practical, hands-on experience in the following areas:
Day 1:
Storytelling – deciding the genre, niche, storyline and plot
Storyboarding – visualizing the story, scouting locations, planning the shoot
Day 2:
Mise en Scene – getting the set/scene ready to shoot
Filming – single and multi-camera shooting
Day 3:
Editing & Screening – Editing and putting the final short film together (video editing, audio editing, voice overs, b-roll, green screens/chroma key, etc.)
Who should join this camp?
Anyone with an interest in Media, Film Making, Video Production, Video Editing, Photography, and everyone who likes to have fun and make fun media projects. This camp will also help people looking to participate in the upcoming UOWD Film Festival as the skills they’ll use and develop will help them make their own short film for the competition.
